Critical Volunteer Needs

Love helping others and don’t mind hitting the road? Our Food Rescue Team is a group of on-call volunteers who jump in when extra help is needed—primarily driving to pick up donated food.

Here’s how it works:

  • Food pickups may be from anywhere in the Atlanta area.

  • You pick the day(s) of the week you’re available.

  • You choose if you’re available to help for each request—sometimes it may be same-day.

  • Willingness to drive our pantry box truck is a huge plus (not required). No extra license is needed—it’s similar in size to a U-Haul.

Every pound of rescued food means more meals for families in need—and you can be part of making it happen.

The Tuesday Night Food Pantry Drive-Through Lead plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth, efficient, and welcoming experience for families utilizing our food pantry services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Coordination & Check-In: Welcome and check in all volunteers, including individuals and groups. Assign roles based on needs and ensure all volunteers understand their responsibilities.
  • Shift Setup & Cleanup: Coordinate the movement of food from the warehouse to the distribution area before the shift begins. Ensure all areas are cleaned up and properly stored at the end of the shift.
  • Client Interaction: Address any issues that arise, whether logistical, operational, or client-related, in a calm and effective manner.
  • Inventory & Warehouse Communication: Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to understand inventory flow, receive updates on available food, and flag any low inventory concerns.
  • Client Data Management: Use computers (desktop, iPad, etc.) to input client assistance records and pertinent notes, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Maintain strict client confidentiality.
